Baller ...

Very short outfit post today. Having a bit of a low- self esteem day. Just a my hair isn't right, my this ain't right. Lol we all have those pointless days. Luckily mine lasts for like a couple of hours until I snap myself out of it. I'm wearing one of my favorite shoes in this picture, I think wedge sneakers are everything. It adds height but it has the comfort of a sneaker. Fun fact for the day: Be careful where you buy. It's great and all to support local stores and online blog stores. But some of them are complete rip- offs. I bought these boots somewhere in Chinatown for R 150. Another blogger sold these exact shoes for R 380! That's horrible ... like at least add your own touch to the boot. Total rip- off! Not everything has to be Topshop or Zara. I love these stores but there's absolutely nothing wrong with Mr Price or Chinatown.

Enjoy!

Sister Stylin' 2

This is the second outfit I chose for my sister. This cobalt blue is huge this winter. So is every other jeweled- tone hue. I'm in a space of waiting for life- changing news. Obviously it has to be kept under wraps till all is official. Yet good or bad I am thankful for every opportunity that comes my way. Usually unexpectedly.
I am constantly thinking about how to make the blog experience better for Pretty Messy Readers. So pop me a suggestion via email. I love hearing any feedback you guys may have.

Enjoy the week!

Sister Stylin'

This is my older sister, Colleen. She is a self- proclaimed shoe addict. A few years back I counted her high- heels alone and it totaled at 65! I styled her myself which what I do a number of times except this time she didn't change a thing. Which is what she usually does. I've been dying for summer ... even spring. I can't wait for it to be warm enough for a breezy dress and some flat sandals.

             Enjoy!

Suit and Tie

Hey Guys .. This is just a short outfit post.
This outfit was featured on the blog a while back but not with heels.
And not in collaboration with Amy. The jacket in these photos is my most favorite jacket and I've had it for ages. I've been having so much fun on Lookbook.nu , a site where bloggers mostly share their style. I've conversed with a bunch of interesting people all around the world. What's not to love about that?

Enjoy!

Off Duty

I wanted to post this look at the beginning of the week already. But alas, time caught up with me. It looks comfortable and it is comfortable. Even though I was working from home last Friday,  I opted to wear this graphic printed track pants that I got from TopShop. Even though fashion bloggers would like you to think they are stylish 24/7, I can't keep that chirade up. I do have days that I lounge in my leopard print onesie complete with striped UGG boots.

Have a great weekend!

You may say that I'm a Dreamer

Hi Pretty Messy Followers!
I've been doing quite a number of outfit posts as you can see. The wedding series is still in the books just need to gather up the courage to sort through 700 hundred photos! I really love the sunglasses in this outfit post. It adds a definite edge to the look. I know most people would find it weird to wear these glasses themselves. But if you like a trend, try it. If it works, good. If it doesn't? So what.
Thank you for the feedback on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other new sites I've been networking on! It's very very encouraging.

Mid- week.
Let'd do this

The Writer

I've been wanting to wear this chiffon shirt for quite some time. I love the look, and the scrawly writing pattern of it. I have to admit it has bit of a weird cut. Had to work my magic, a bit of tucking and knotting and I was good to go. I'm wearing my gangster necklace once again. Here you can see how to pair it with a more elegant outfit rather than a hip hop looking outfit. I Know some of you are looking forward to the wedding posts so do return later today for that series. I have so much to share with you guys so bare with me.

Honestly, I really can't wait for Summer. That's just my season.
Hope you all are having a good week.

Palm Trees

I love Weekends. Not because there's no work but because I get to spend more time with my son. Rome is fast becoming one naughty little bugger and the cutest little person on the planet. This week is a very special week for my Husband and I. We'll be celebrating our one year wedding anniversary on Sunday! We've come so far, achieved so much in this period. I am honestly one lucky girl to have someone like him. In celebration of that, I will be doing a wedding series on Pretty Messy. Most of our guests haven't seen the photos as yet! So starting tomorrow I will be taking you through my journey on the big day.

I'm wearing this outfit today. Super cosy yet stylish. If your feeling bleak in winter, buy/ wear bright choices. Black/ Brown are not the only choices in Winter.
Enjoy!

Ain't Nobody Bid'ness

                                                       Excuse the title.
Been reviving my love for Hip Hop recently. I have thee weirdest musical taste ever. I could easily go from a rap song to a musical Broadway song. I guess you could say that my outfit is a little hip hoppish. The necklace definitely gives off that feel. I have been searching mountain high, valley low for a necklace such as this. Found it at a store called ''Call it Spring''. Call it Spring is so to say the affordable range of the Aldo store. Did not seem very affordable to me. I hate those shops that has a sale but sale items are still in the thousands range. That's not a bargain! Another store to look out for is TopShop. In love with this place. Its the Mr Price overseas and has beautiful, unique and edgy pieces. Last night I went to an event at Nu Metro with my close friend, Freda. The pictures will be shared soon!

Floral for Spring? Groundbreaking.

This outfit was worn on Sunday. The jeans are new and was a bargain buy at the Cotton On Sale. Jeans were going for only R50! I kept checking the price tag like what!? I bought another pair as well and some other goodies. The sales are just amazing!
Some shops that are hosting sales are: Cotton On, Factorie, La Senza, Diva, Fashion Express, Woolworth and more ...that I can't think about right now.
Happy Shopping!

Sequins and Pink Soles

I wore this outfit to our work's ''Suit Day''. This was my version of what I imagine a suit to be. I had high heels on to complete the look. But running up and down to take photos of the team I put on some flats. These brogues are fast becoming a favorite, super comfy and well, I mean leopard print with a pink sole? Obviously. Feeling very inspired lately, I definitely owe it to having the right associations around me. How can one maintain a optimistic spirit when you have a bunch of complainers around you? No, thank you.
Time to Win, Win, Win.

Reconnaissance Mission

The lovely Amy took these pictures for Pretty Messy at The Woodstock Exchange. It might be more often at this specific place but will talk about that at a later stage. This place is beautiful! I felt like a tourist although it is only a street away from my actual workplace.
Just feel the need to mention my lunch: [clears throat] Chicken Wrap with Salad. And A berry Bos Ice Tea.
I know, I'm proud too.
Enjoy!

Quick outfit post! Got these amazing yellow boots at Pick n' Pay Clothing Store the other day for only r100! Not sure if they still have stock but go for it, they have loads of colors. Also, they have the cutest pajama onesies ever. I bought a leopard print one with pink details.
Thank you for the great feedback and criticism from friends and strangers!

P.S  A little Amy birdie told me that my photo I took of Amy has appeared in The Mail and Guardian. See it here and other photos in a local newspaper called ''The Son'' - [sawn] can be seen the coming weekend :)

Men's Style Tips

Read this Blog Post in front of your wardrobe ...

Tip #1
Do not wear white shoes especially white pointers. And definitely, NOT in winter.
White dress shoes are for guys who don't know how to dress.
The only white shoes acceptable for a guy is white loafers in Summer. The best way to wear them are with shorts.

Tip #2
No girly prints. Stripes, Check Patterns are acceptable. Board shorts can have the dodgeball prints on them. I detest Paisley shirts. As in really now. NO. Any wacky trend like that, limit it to an accessory like a paisley tie. Do not wear a paisley shirt and not expect me to ask you where is your fringed pants and cowboy boots.

Tip #3
These are your basics:
- black pants
-white shirt
-black shirt
-faded jeans
-one suit in a hue of black and to spice things up grey
- black dress shoe
-brown dress shoe
-cardigans: any color but start off with brown hues.  Lighter- skinned would go for darker browns like rust and tan or chocolate, Darker skinned would lean towards beige and caramel- ish.
-a black and brown sneaker
-and, a Converse [no matter your age]

Tip #4
Just like women. Tailoring is important. Have your suit fitted, you only need one suit unless you a Pastor like my Dad or a businessman in that case you need hundred of suits. Jeans are another thing that needs to be properly fitted. Which leads to Tip Number 5

Tip #5
Jeans
- No Baggy Jeans. Never Have, Never will be interested in your brand of underwear. Its like the equivalent of that horrible phase girls went through when wearing your g-string in a way everyone could see it was actual trend. Just gave me wedgie by looking at it. It does not have to be tight as in blood circulation stops, but it needs to know where to hang and where to cling.

-The result of Baggy Jeans is ragged and broken hems. Cutting off the broken pieces of that raggedy pieces is not the solution. The solution is: Pulling up your pants.

What you should now by now...
No Hawaiian shirts even in Hawai
Chocolate Brown and Black is not a color palette EVER.
White socks with that Adidas slippers are only acceptable when you have to rush to the shop in a hurry. I never understood the logic of sandals and socks at the beach. Do many guys have some inferiority complex towards their toes or what?

Men's Style

My Husband has always had impeccable style. But since our vows I have avidly taken up the responsibility of pretending his my very own male mannequin to dress up. I venture into new territories... Baby Clothes and  Menswear. FUN. Cannot wait till Rome is a little bit older so I can match their outfits. Both of them will probably be immensely dissatisfied. But you get things right when you the only woman in the family. Sorry about not posting regularly, but technology has been beating me up since like forever.
Anyway, I will be doing regular posts on Men's Style every Saturday and Sunday as my Husband has these casual Friday days at his work. So expect a similar post this weekend!

EyeLash Extensions Horror Movie

Yesterday I made the spontaneous decision to get false eye lash extensions. I'm a fan of them because I have really stubbly eyelashes and even putting eyeliner on makes them look really small. I tried them at my wedding and I had no need to put on eye shadow or mascara because of the ba bam factor. So I decided I will try the lashes that stay put for a whole month instead of buying eyelashes and storing them. That would be freaky.

I went to DreamNails in Cape Gate with my Sister- In- Law who was really interested in this process. I had no idea what to expect but okay off we go. I had to lay down on this heated bed (seriously need to invest in these for winter) which would of been comfortable if I had been lying on the pillow but I couldn't because the beautician needed that weird angle that gave me a neck cramp and a half. Very relaxing, you know. By nature, I stress quite easily but in a funny way. Like I literally laugh uncontrollably when I am stressed or nervous. So of course laying down while you are trying to TAPE my bottom lashes to my FACE. I will stress.

Trying to not laugh drained my concentration. I can't remember the exact song playing in the background. I do know this: It was an old song. A bad old song. It was annoying. It was on repeat. So my lashes are taped and stuff. I look like someone beat me up in a deserted alleyway. Nice. And she starts doing her thing. She glued the lashes on one for one. At first I thought she's putting reeds on my eyes. At times she pressed too hard it felt like reedy- ish. And me thinking: YES. Walk with trees on your eyes. And after a gazillion hours she's done.

Stabbing me with reeds are clearly not torturous enough. Let's unglue her lashes that got STUCK together. The pain. I would rather give birth again, To twins. Than experience that feeling. Gosh.
A picture for your benefit. unedited and everything.

Gross.

Anyway: Here's me with darker hair and stubbly eyelashes

And this me with lighter hair and longer lashes.

.
P.S I Had a headache afterwards and looked as if I was crying for at least 3 hours straight. So for anyone really enthusiastic about doing this= Paracetamol and Dark Shades

This could seem really dumb to some people but I don't care
Why do you put plastic on your fingers? That's common.
(Don't GO for your lashes, Its Horrible)

Sorry, I have this obsession with a series called Scandal (currently known as ''The Fixer'' in SA)
I think I may have missed my calling.

Trend Alert| Dungarees

They are back.
And I am super happy about it. A fashion friend announced their return and I myself have been seeing them around lately on blogs and fashion sites.
Why am I stoked about it?
They are comfortable and you don't need layers upon layers. It's like a baby onesie for adults.
Dust off that dungarees and go crazy with it.
